Index Fundamentalism Revisited -- Redux by Focus Asset Research Associate Jared Kizer

In an article entitled "Index Fundamentalism Revisited" by Ken Reinker and Professor Tower, they find that a portfolio of Vanguard's actively managed funds outperformed a portfolio of Vanguard's index funds over the period of 1977-2003. In this follow-up article by Focus Asset Research Associate Jared Kizer, he finds that the results are not explained by active management versus passive management per se but rather by the increased tilt toward value stocks and small stocks within the actively managed portfolio relative to the indexed portfolio.
